Volunteer | 2022
Hello, my name is Ophélie, I come from Paris and I am a French public health medical doctor. In 2022, I followed a masters degree in health promotion and prevention for which I needed to do an internship to graduate. I was lucky enough to be able to do this internship with Eve for Life. My internship assignment was to conduct a study on the difficulties faced by young mothers with children under the age of three and who were clients of Eve for Life. I interviewed mothers, employees at Eve for Life as well as health professionals. I was also able to accompany my colleagues who did school interventions, as well as participate in a one-week workshop for the Community Change Champions program. Everything felt very new to me so I learnt a lot about the work Eve for Life did but also about Jamaican society as a whole. I was warmly welcomed by the whole team who quickly made me feel at home. I was struck by the dedication and resilience of the Eve for Life family who do everything possible in their means to empower the clients. I feel very grateful to have been part of Eve for Life it was only for a short time and will treasure this experience !
Volunteer | 2022 - 2023
I have performed quite a few volunteer tasks throughout the years, but working at Eve for Life is by far my favorite. I had the chance to become a part of the organization by taking part in programs and working with the Care and Counselling team. It was a lovely experience, and the staff did a fantastic job of involving me in supporting their everyday activities, and tasks. When I first joined Eve for the Life, I lacked relevant expertise in the psychology and social work fields; nevertheless, when I left the company, I had far more than enough professional and life skills to use in my future endeavour's.
